You’re gonna love this one, its sweet, chocolate-y, vegan, healthy and delicious!  It’s got it all!! I have a small obsession with dates lately because they are so delicious (they taste like sticky toffee brown sugar).  They are quite high in sugar, but like substituting them for other sweeteners when I can because they also contain a good amount of fiber and vitamins and minerals.  If you don’t have dates, no need to make a special trip (unless you want to try them) a tablespoon of maple syrup or honey would be a perfect sub in here.

Health highlight of cocoa powder:  I like cocoa powder for applications like this one because it incorporates easily, contains no sugar, and still contains some good nutritional wizards (I know its cheesy, but I like to use this term because I think healthy foods are magical).  Cocoa powder contains flavonoids that early research is suggesting could help promote heart health, lower blood pressure, improve circulation, and reduce cholesterol.  Just don’t go with the dutch processed variety, that is much lower in the good stuff.

1 cup Ice
4 whole, dried Dates
3 cups whole Strawberries (remove the top)
½ cup Baby Spinach
2 rounded tablespoons Cocoa Powder
1 cup soy or Almond Milk

Easy Instructions:

  • Toss all the ingredients in the blender
  • Blend until smooth
  • If you want to thin it a bit feel free to add cold water until it gets to the consistency you like
  • Pour and drink it up!
