Oh fall. Who can resist the flavors of fall? Not me!! So when I am looking for fall flavors with the least possible effort, I turn to smoothies. And, unlike other green smoothies I make, this one is appropriately green because it’s green apple!!
I think dates taste like toffee, so the combo of dates and apples reminds me of caramel apples. Yum! You can whip this up for breakfast, or dessert, and get a great helping of leafy greens!!
I didn’t share this earlier this week, but this past weekend, I took a day to relax and read. It was amazing. Something about immersing myself in another world, usually with a kick-ass girl as the lead, makes me feel whole and refreshed. It was amazing. But when I get into a good book, I can be really silly and stay up waaay too late reading it. I did that and managed to finish my book in a little over a day. So worth it though, I love reading so much!!
When I needed a little perk up because of my late night reading, this smoothie was the perfect fix. Sweet and filling. Plus I could sip with one hand and read with the other.. hehe
Health highlight of apples: Apples are amazingly healthy. The flavonoids in apples have been shown to reduce the risk of certain kinds of cancer. Apples have also been shown to sharpen your memory, and help protect against Alzheimer’s, asthma, and chronic cough. They are protective of your cardiovascular system, and have been linked with a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes. The skin is the most dense with nutrients, so leave it on, but opt for organic as apples are the produce found to have the highest pesticide residue.
