It’s no secret that I love grilling in the nice weather. Since I don’t eat meat (only the occasional seafood) I am always looking for other fun alternatives to grill. One night hubby and I were brainstorming and came up with this beauty. It’s like enjoying all the flavors of the quintessential grill meal, but completely healthy and plant based! I loved it!!
If you are like me, when you grill for dinner, you want to throw EVERYTHING on the grill. I don’t want to split my time, or clean anything I don’t need to. I find it relaxing and zen to be able to just throw the whole dinner on the grill, then take the whole thing off and eat it. That’s what I did with this recipe, I served these Cauliflower Steaks with these 2 delights:
Simple Grilled Potatoes
Simple Grilled Asparagus
Health highlights of cauliflower: cauliflower is anti-inflammatory which means it can help reduce the risk of heart disease, Alzheimer’s, even depression (which is still being researched further to explore the inflammation-depression link). As a part of the cruciferous family (with broccoli) cauliflower contains potent anti-cancer compounds. It also supports the body’s detoxification process.
Ingredients:
1 head Cauliflower – remove the leaves and cut into quarters from the bottom making sure to get stem in each quarter so it doesn’t fall apart on you
2 tablespoons Dry Steak Rub seasoning
2 tablespoons Canola Oil
Steak Sauce (to serve; make sure to check ingredients as some contain anchovies. I didn’t have a hard time finding a vegan one though)
Easy Instructions:
- Rub the cauliflower steaks with the canola oil
- Sprinkle the steak seasoning over both sides of the cauliflower steaks
- Place the “steaks” on the grill
- Grill on each side until they get nice grill marks and are tender (you can test them with a knife as you would a potato)
- Remove from grill
- Serve with steak sauce!
