Need another wonderful reason to eat more fruits and vegetables? A new study from the University of St Andrews in Scotland suggests that eating more fruits and vegetables will give your skin a healthy glow! The researchers suspect that the cause is the carotenoids in the produce which has been shown in other studies to increase golden colors in the skin. What’s better is that this research showed that the subjects who ate more fruits and veggies (and had more golden tones as a result) were perceived by others as more attractive than before the study!

Since here on the east coast we are just starting to come out of the winter darkness, it is great news that bulking up a little on yummy, healthy produce can also make us eye candy in our skimpier summer duds! Pretty sweet if you ask me.

If you want to get the most carotenoid bang from your produce buck, here are a few foods that are good sources of this nutrient:

  • Carrots
  • Mango
  • Kale
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Spinach
  • Bell Peppers
  • Tomatoes
