Roasted Garlic

With the weather cooling down I am always looking for an excuse to wear outfits made entirely of fleece.  And turn the oven on at any chance.

And while my motivation is often secretly so I can hover close and warm my perpetually cold hands, I give myself bonus points when the oven is also making something delicious.  But move over chocolate chip cookies, I love when my house smells like roasted garlic.  It smells like a delicious meal is happening.

5 lovely ways to enjoy roasted garlic:

  1. Spread it on bread (it would be lovely on this sammy)
  2. Stir in into hummus
  3. Make a pizza (this one from Oh My Veggies looks incredible, I think I know what to do with all that roasted garlic I have now!!)
  4. Have a tapas plate for dinner (olives, crackers, grapes, roasted garlic, toasted nuts, maybe some cheese.. it’s a party on a weekday!! It’s also the easiest dinner ever!!)
  5. Stir it into some mashed potatoes! (Or just spread it on a baked potato!)

Health highlight of garlic: Garlic is more than just delicious, it’s super good for you!  It helps you absorb zinc and iron, is heart health promoting, anti-inflammatory, and has been linked to cancer prevention.  Garlic can help support a healthy immune system, and can help lower cholesterol and high blood pressure.
