November Round Up

It’s been a while since I have done my monthly round up, and I really wanted to reflect back on how awesome November was.  Am I biased that November is the best month ever because it is my birthday, and Thanksgiving, and everything is pumpkin themed?  Nah…

Ok so I am totally biased.

So let’s get on with all the awesome stuff about November! (Because I am kinda the most ever excited about December, I love snow and Christmas and everything that comes with the Holidays!!)

 Favorite Recipe This Month:

The recipes this month were a lot about Thanksgiving.  It was something new, so if you have feedback I would super love to hear what you thought of it!!

Because of that I am kind of cheating and picking a recipe from October.

My Favorite Thing:

I have never really been one to do intense work outs.  I love yoga, and pilates, and when I feel like doing some cardio I generally turn to dance.

Hubby recently got really into fitness, and I decided to give it a try as well.  I like it so much more then I ever expected I would.

Here is what I have been doing:

Hubby was first to start this program.  I saw a few clips of it and totally brushed it off because I didn’t think there was a chance I could do all the moves.  I could barely do a few squats, and push ups were never my forte.  One day I decided to give one of the videos a try.  To my complete shock, I didn’t feel like I was going to die, and I felt amazing for the rest of the day knowing I had done something really good for my body.  I have been doing them every morning since.  I never ever thought I would be one of those people who wake up early every morning to work out.

What it is all about: the program is a series of 25 minute exercises.  Of course that is my favorite part, they are quick, which makes exercising so much easier for me to fit in. It is a 10 week program.  Every week progresses a little in difficulty, and there are modifiers for lower impact, easier exercises.

After getting really into the whole I-workout-and-actually-like-it thing, we got these DVDs to throw into the mix.  They are awesome.  There is a yoga DVD that I love, and even if I can’t squeeze in 25 minutes, 10 minutes is really nothing.  I can handle that even on the craziest of days.

My Book of the Month:

In January, I decided one of my resolutions was going to be to read a book a month for the year.  I adding this to the monthly round ups because it keeps me accountable.  I have officially completed 12 books this year, and I am so excited!!

Since it has been a while since I have done a round up, here are a few of the books I have read recently:

The Fiery Heart – This is the most recent in the Vampire Academy spin off series.  If you like YA fantasy (that involves vampires and strong kick ass female leads) you may want to try the Vampire Academy series.  They are making it into a movie, and I had really low expectations, thinking I wouldn’t want to see it, but I was pleasenly surprised by the trailer.  It is directed by the same guy who did Mean Girls.  And I really love that movie.

The Lightening Thief – I had been meaning to read this book forever.  It was cute, light hearted and humorous.  Not something I would gush over, but it was a perfect light read over the summer.

Unspoken – This is my new favorite series.  I have been trying to convince everyone I know they need to read it.  I am a sucker for books with strong girls who can take care of themselves.  Kami is that, and hilarious, and I love her a lot.
